Karen Iglitzin named "Outstanding Studio Teacher " for 2008 by American String Teachers of Washington.
 |
This award is made on a biannual basis by the Washington chapter of the American String Teachers. The voting teachers recognized Karen’s distinguished career, as the first violinist of the Philadelphia String Quartet from 1982 to 1987. She began what was to be a long-running relationship with the Washington public school string programs as coach and mentor to teachers and students alike. She served as head of the string program at Western Washington University. She founded “Chamber Music Madness’ in 2000 and it is considered a most influential chamber music program.
Karen was also recognized for the passion of her teaching and dedication to the young players of the Northwest. The award for the Collegiate teacher went to Walt Schwede of WWU; and the school orchestra winner was Daniel Wing of Shorewood High School. |
